Former three-term member of Congress Jason Altmire discussed his book, Dead Center: How Political Polarization Divided America and What We Can Do About It, on Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. in the Pugh Hall Ocora.
Altmire, a respected political moderate, was recognized as having the most centrist voting record in the entire House of Representatives. Altmire discussed his time in office and gave the audience an inside view of what it is like to be a centrist in a divided Congress. Drawing upon his first-hand experiences, Altmire revealed the root causes of polarization and offered novel solutions to restore the spirit of cooperation in Washington.
